Create Desktop Shortcuts

Are you tired of searching for a document or program you use frequently on your computer?

Create links to frequently used documents and programs on your computer's desktop. The desktop is the screen you see when you turn on your computer. Some software programs automatically create shortcuts on your desktop. You will see images for these programs. They might include web browser and computer-based email programs.

The next time you go to open a document or program, right-click instead of double-clicking it. The right-click will open a pop-up menu. Select 'Send To' from the menu. A new pop-up menu will open. Select 'Desktop (create shortcut)'. The menu will disappear. Return to your desktop and look for an image for that document or program. You can now double-click on this image from now on to access the document or program.

You can delete the image from your desktop by right-clicking on the image and selecting 'Delete' from the pop-up menu. This will only delete the desktop image, not the actual document or program.
